How to Prevent Water Damage to Your Phone

On a night out, did you drop your phone down the toilet?
Maybe you've spilled water on your brand-new iPhone?

We've all been there, so don't worry.
It can be a stressful situation, especially if your smartphone is damaged by water.
They do, after all, organize our lives.
They keep us company, serve as calendars, alarm clocks, and a portal to the outside world.
As a result, even if it's only for a short time, being without them might be frightening.
However, repeatedly pressing the power button in an attempt to get your phone to operate will not address the problem, and there are several very simple solutions to repair your phone after a spill.
For water damage, follow these five actions.

Remove it.

First and foremost, it's usually best not to submerge your smartphone in water for an extended period of time.

Although it isn't always the most pleasurable process (especially if your phone is one of the unfortunate ones that gets put down the toilet), the first thing you should do if your phone gets wet is to fish it out.

Disassemble it.

Once you've gotten it out, turn your phone off right once to prevent any more harm.
After you've turned it off, you can begin disassembling it to fully analyze the damage.
Remove the battery and SIM card (as well as any other removable pieces of the phone) with care so that you can dry them separately.
Just be careful not to use too much force - a phone that has been crushed into a million pieces may be more difficult to repair!

It must be dried.

After you've disassembled your phone, blot any residual water with a small, dry dishcloth or paper towel.
If you spill something sticky, resist the urge to dry it too quickly; you can wind up doing more damage.
Instead, blot the phone dry with a TINY bit of water on your cloth to remove any stickiness.
After you've dealt with the worst of the water, you may concentrate on mending your phone.

Go for the rice.

Okay, so it isn't required that it be rice.
However, now that you've removed the majority of the surplus liquid, you'll need to speed up the drying process to ensure that every last drop of water is gone.
Some people prefer to use a hairdryer to speed things up, but if you're not careful, this can push the water further inside your phone.
Others like vacuum cleaners because the water is pulled away from the phone rather than being pushed deeper inside.
Just make sure you don't vacuum up the phone with it!
However, the most popular way of repairing a phone after it has been flooded is to fill a resealable sandwich bag with water.

Allow some time to pass.

Then it's just a matter of waiting.
Most people will tell you that after an accident, you should let your phone dry for a week before using it again.
However, 24 hours should generally suffice - just make sure your phone is turned off the entire time.
